    Bayernhof Museum

    After passing away in 1999, Charles Brown III left his collection of musical instruments and his house to be transformed into a museum. Displayed in the house are music boxes of all shapes and sizes, an automatic banjo, a Seeburg Pipe Organ Orchestra from the silent film era and many other unique pieces. Walk along the pathway that winds through the property and see the pools and gardens. Children must be at least 12 years old to go on the tours, which is offered year round by appointment.

    The William Vicary Mansion

    nside the William Vicary Mansion, visitors can tour the 23 rooms and take in its original architecture and fixtures. Completed in 1829, the mansion is open to the public Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm, or by appointment.

    The Silas Clark House

    Home to the Indiana County Historical Society, the Silas Clark House has been part of the area since 1870. The Victorian-style mansion was built by prominent citizen and Supreme Count judge, Silas Clark and is furnished in period items and other artifacts. Tours of the house are available.

    Lowrie-Shaw House

    In 1828, Butler's only U.S. senator, Walter Lowrie, constructed a house. After Lowrie, the Shaw family lived in the house until giving it to the Butler Historical Society in 1986. Requiring a complete restoration, the house now welcomes the public on Sundays from 1pm to 3pm, May to August or by appointment. It can also be used for special events.

    Clayton Victorian Mansion

    Located on the Frick Art and Historical Center ground, Clayton is a restored mansion that was built in the 1880s. Owned by Henry Clay Frick, the 23-room residence contains many of the family's possessions. Tours are available Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

    Enoch Wright House

    The Enoch Wright House was built in 1815 and was designed to house two families, with bricks for the outside and inside walls made on-site. There are two rooms that are accessible from the outside of the house only and are thought to have possibly concealed runaway slaves for the Underground Railway. Tours of the house are available by calling the Peters Creek Historical Society.

    Frank Lloyd Wright's Kentucky Knob

    Designed in the last decade of Frank Lloyd Wright's career and completed in 1956, Kentucky Knob is a deluxe Usonion structure in the Laurel Highlands, just seven miles (11 km) away from Lloyd's home of Fallingwater. The on-site visitor center is home to a cafe and gift shop as well as offering tours of the estate. Visitors can also check out the sculpture meadow below the house, full of 35 unique sculptures.

    Linden Hall Mansion

    Completed in 1913 by the widow of coal mogul Philip Cochran, Linden Hall remains one of Greater Pittsburgh's historic mansions. Inside the house are 35 rooms, 13 baths and 27 fireplaces, and includes many antique furnishing and intricate decorations. Tours are offered from April 15 through October 31 and reservations are required to see the house. An 18-hole golf course is also on the propperty.

    Hartwood Mansion and Park
    Pittsburgh's Hartwood Mansion and Park includes a Tudor house constructed in the early 1900s, as well as a equestrian center with riding trails that are still used. Guided tours of the house and the grounds are offered throughout the year, with special Christmas visits available to the intricate decorations including a train set, several trees and a kissing bell. The house is furnished with many of the pieces of the original owners, the prominent Lawrence family.

    Nemacolin Castle

    Nemacolin Castle is the focal point of the Brownsville community, containing artifacts dating back to at least 1787. Built in the mid 1800s, the castle was once the home to the prominent Bowman family. Guided tours of the building are offered on weekends from mid-March to mid-October, 11am to 5pm. Extended hours during the summer months (June 1 to August 31), open 11am to 5pm Tuesday through Thursday, as well as on weekends.

    Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater

    Located 7 mi (11 km) from Ohiopyle State Park is where Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater home can be found. Built from 1935 to 1938, the design is one of Wright's most notable concepts of organic architecture. Fallingwater is built above the water falls of Bear Run on separate concrete trays and is filled with many of the original furnishing and art inside for guests to see on the three tours offered.
