    Carnegie Museum of Natural History

    Beaver Area Historical Museum

    Beaver Area Historical Museum is housed inside an old railway freight station. Exhibits follow the the local history, providing information on notable citizens and events from the 1800s until today. Some of the displays are rotating, offering new items to see on each visit. It is open March to December on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm and Sundays from 1pm to 4pm.

    Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art

    Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art offers traveling and permanent exhibitions, as well as educational programs. The American Association of Museums gave the museum accreditation in 1995 and today it is found in four communities: Loretto, Altoona, Ligonier and Johnstown. Inside the museum is a large selection of 19th and 20th century items, such as paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints., including some work of Andy Warhol.

    The Coal & Coke Heritage Center

    The Coal & Coke Heritage Center in Uniontown was established to preserve the area's industrial history between 1870 and 1970. On display are a number of artifacts, from tools to safety equipment to machinery, as well as photographs and documents. The center is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm or by appointment and is found on the Penn State University Fayette Campus.

    McKeesport Heritage Center

    Though local artifacts, photographs and memorabilia, the McKeesport Heritage Center is able to teach people about the history of the area.     The Frick Art and Historical Center

    Located on six-acres, the center features the home of Henry Clay Frick. The home was restored. Also reconstructed was the Alden and Harlow Greenhouse, which dates back to 1897. The visitor center was formely the bowling alley in the home. Both the Car and Carriage Museum and Frick Art Museum are located in the center.

    For more than 50 years, Jimmy Stewart graced the screens as one of America's leading men. Today, people can explore Stewart's life from his hometown of Indiana at the Jimmy Stewart Museum. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm and 12pm to 5pm on Sundays. The museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays from January to March.

    Braddock Carnegie Library & Museum

    Not only is the Braddock Carnegie Library the oldest Carnegie Library in the United States, but it also houses the French and Indian War Museum. The library building was dedicated in 1889 and continues to house a book collection, as well as a music hall, a museum and several reading rooms. The museum is found on the second floor and contains pictures, artifacts and other exhibits concerning the French and Indian War of 1755.
