    Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
    Phipps Conservatory Pittsburgh

    The conservatory first opened in 1893 and presents flower shows, educational classes, events and more. Special exhibits are presented. The garden is one of the largest botanical conservatories in the nation. Memberships are available and help support the garden.

    Blacklick Valley Natural Area
    Used by the early Native Americans for transportation, Blacklick Valley Nature Area is now a popular recreation area in Dilltown. Spend the day hiking, or cross-country skiing in the winter, on the trails, and observing the numerous animal and birds that live in the park.

    Koenig Field
    Koenig Field is Edgewood's largest park, containing two baseball fields, two tennis courts, several basketball courts, a running track and a playground for children, including a section for tots. Visitors will find pubic restrooms on the park grounds.

    White Oak Park

    Point State Park
    Found at the convergence point of the Monongahela, Allegheny and Ohio rivers, Point State Park has grown from a dirty industrial wasteland to a state recognized recreation area. Set on 36 acres, the park boasts a 150-ft (46-m) tall fountain, the Fort Pitt Museum, the Fort Pitt Blockhouse, the Music Bastion and a series of monuments, as well as picnic areas and green spaces. Many community events are held at the park.

    Heritage Hill Park
    A number of recreational amenities are available at White Oak's Heritage Hill Park, including a hockey rink, an outdoor swimming pool and a playground. The rink is open daily from 12 pm to dusk and balls can be rented from the pool concession stand.

    Boyce Park Nature Center
    Boyce Park Nature Center is a county-run recreation area, offering a number of facilities. On the 1,100-acre grounds are tennis courts, a wave pool, skiing and snowboarding areas, picnic shelters, model airplane spots and several interpretive centers.

    Laurel Summit State Park
    Primarily used as a picnic area, Laurel Summit State Park offers a number of picnic tables, a group pavilion, water facilities and restrooms. Located 2,739 ft (835 m) above sea level, the park tends to be a bit cooler than the nearby communities of Jennerstown, Laurel Mountain and Ligonier.

    Moraine State Park
    Once devastated by oil and coal extractions, Moraine State Park was transformed into a 16,000-acre playground for all ages. Recreational facilities include a sandy beach for swimming; Lake Arthur for fishing, boating and windsurfing; nearly 30 mi (48 km) of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding; and designated camping sites, as well as a number of winter activities. A bike rental shop, a marina and a seasonal concession stand are also found in the park.

    Allegheny Riverfront Park
    Allegheny Riverfront Park spans the northern boundary of Pittsburgh's Cultural District. It runs along the Allegheny River from the Ninth Street Pier to Fort Duquesne Bridge. Inside the park visitors will find an array of pathways, scenic views and picnic areas.

    Pine Ridge Park
    A natural area, Pine Ridge Park supports a number of activities, including trails that wind through the forest to the steams and scenic view areas. There is a pond on the grounds that allows for catch-and-release fishing. On the south side of the park is the Pine Lodge, a building that can be rented out for meetings, receptions and other gatherings.

    Raccoon Creek State Park
    101-acre lake is the focal piece of the Raccoon Creek State Park near Hookstown. Situated on 7,572 acres of land, the area boasts numerous hiking tails, camping sites and picnic tables, as well as plenty of undeveloped spots to explore. Raccoon Lake also supports a number of activities, including excellent fishing and swimming at the sandy beach. In the winter, visitors can ice fish, skate, sled and cross-country ski.

    Dormont Park
    Located in the southern borough's of Pittsburgh, Dormont Park features a number of recreational amenities. Kids of all ages can climb on the playground equipment, play a game of baseball on the diamonds or throw some horseshoes.     Laurel Mountain State Park
    Laurel Mountain State Park is located in between Ligonier and Jennerstown in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Frequented by skiers and snowboarders, the 3,000 ft (914 m) mountain is home to the the Springs at Laurel Mountain, one of the first ski areas in Pennsylvania. The hill is open from December to March and contains a retail shop and a food area.

    Todd Sanctuary
    Todd Sanctuary features both guided and self-guided hikes through its 176-acre nature preserve near Buffalo. Managed by the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania, the park allows visitors to use its five trails, the longest running 2 mi (3.2 km) in length. The area is closed during hunting season, which lasts about 2 weeks from the end of November to the middle of December.

    Tunnelview Historic Site
    Tunnelview Historic Site is found in Indiana and contains a 900 ft (275 m) section of the Pennsylvania Mainline Canal. These remains are found near the Conemaugh Dam and explain the area's transportation heritage. Also on the site is a park which offers a pavilion, a canoe launch to the Conemaugh River and other recreational facilities.

    Rodef Shalom Biblical Botanical Garden
    Rodef Shalom Biblical Botanical Garden takes people into ancient Israel with its garden, which is filled with more than 100 tropical plants, streams, waterfalls and desert area.     Keystone State Park
    Keystone State Park in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania has multiple uses, including camping, swimming, boating, ice-fishing, sledding and much more. On-site are 11 cabins which are available for rent all year-round. Picnic areas and hiking trails are scattered throughout the grounds and there is also a swimming beach with a nearby concession stand that provides hot and cold foods from late-May to early September.

    McConnells Mill State Park
    McConnell's Mill State Park boasts Class II to Class IV rapids for rafting, rock climbing areas and fishing spots. Visitors are asked to use caution in the park, as the water is very treacherous and the terrain is steep and rocky. Hiking, hunting and picnicking are also welcomed activities, and a restored gristmill is open for tours from late May until early September from 10:30am to 5:30pm.
